Hans Christian Andersen's Fairy Tales: The Swineherd book review:

This was one of the shorter stories in this book however it didn't deduct from the actual story itself. As I told you in my last post there are quite a lot of stories in this book and I have actually counted them so you know ho long you are going to be hearing about different old classics. There are in total (including the previous post) 32 stories in this book. Also, at the end of all the book review I will do an extra post about this book which includes an overall book review on how I thought all the stories were and all the pictures inside this book. All the pictures in this book are what looks like to be actual paintings that have been printed into the book on different paper. So if you don't like old classics then sorry but I love them. And as I always say after theses sorts of thing: now back to the books.
   This story was about a Prince who lives in a kingdom that's quite small however is large enough to marry upon it. But the Prince doesn't want to marry anyone in his kingdom he wants to marry the Emperor's daughter. To win the heart of the Emperor's daughter he sends her gifts. However she finds fault in all of them and disagrees with the Prince. In a last attempt to marry the Emperor's daughter the Prince applies for a job at the Emperor's castle to see why the Emperor's daughter won't marry him. The Emperor gives the Prince the job of the swineherd and that's all I'm going to tell you.
   It was really good and fun to read however I would have liked it even more if Hans Christian Andersen had given the Prince, Emperor and Emperor's daughter names. Apart from this it was a great story with a meaning behind it. I really can't wait to finish this book and tell you about all the different stories. This story in particular reminded me of the stories you got told as a kid so you would learn not to lie or steal and stuff like that. Each story has it's own meaning for example the Wild Swans story shows that family is important. Also, this one shows that you should accept the gifts you are given and not turn your backs on them.

   Now for everyone's favourite part of the post author facts. As I told you at the start of the post there will 33 posts about this book so there won't be many author facts so sorry is my posts are a bit shorter then usual. Hans Christian Andersen wrote many famous stories that are really famous still. Like the Little Sea Maid, the Ugly Duckling, the Snow Queen, Thumbelina and the Princess and the Pea. Some of his stories have been changed and turned into Disney films. For example The Little Mermaid and Frozen.
