Hans Christian Anderson Fairy Tales: The Darning Needle:

This one was one of the weirder stories as you can probably tell by the title. It's about a very proud darning needle that thinks it's very fine. The owner of this needle is only a cook however the needle thinks it's of a fine family of fingers. It's very clever how Andersen describes the fingers and it made me laugh at first. He  has very weird but good stories. Also, a load of strange events happen to the darning needle and lots of different things happen to it. I'm not going into much detail as I don't want to ruin the storyline. This is one of the slightly longer stories at a grand total of four pages. I thinks some of Andersen's writing style has rubbed off on me because some of the things I have typed up are not what I usually type. As you could probably tell if you read my blog regularly.
The moral behind this story is no matter how fine you are anything can happen to you good or bad. Also, another moral is not to look down on others. I think Andersen put morals in all his books because they might have been read to little kids and he wanted to tell them the important things in his time.
The ending was also a bit strange as it was neither happy or sad as you will see if you read this story. Again, I won't go into to much detail and I'll let you find out for yourself. Also, they are still amazing stories and I would recommend them to anyone.
Again, as I said in one of my newer post I would put the images at the start of every story up so here you go:

That's all for this post if you have any books or posts you want me to do then please put them in the comments and I'll see you next post.

Hans Christian Andersen's Fairy Tales: The Wicked Prince:

I am really loving all the stories in this book so far and this one is no exemption. I still don't understand how Andersen make a story of about two pages and puts enough detail in for other writers to make into a 300 page book. This story could have been a full length  film without any boring bits that drags the film on.
If you have read a few of Andersen's stories then you will have probably have realised that they all have meanings behind them. For instance this story is no matter how powerful you are you can never be invincible. His stories are really well written and I love to read them. Also, Andersen might be starting to replace my favourite author Cornelia Funke. Honestly, I'm not exaggerating his stories are really good.
This one is about a Prince that wants to rule the world so invades all his neighbouring countries and takes over them. His is undefeated and now wants to conquer Heaven. It does sound weird when I say it like that however it is actually really good. However, if you want to read a story that you watch the movie to as a child then don't. The stories are still amazing but they are usually different from the movie and have a different ending to what you were expecting. Just a pre-warning.
This book and all the stories I've read so far have been amazing and I would recommend them to anyone even if they don't like old books.
As, I said in my newer there are pictures at the start of every story and I'll put them up now:

That's the end of this post sorry they're really short but I don't want to give away any of the really good parts of the stories. If you have any books or posts you want me to do then please put them in the comments and I'll get to them as soon as I can.

The Great Gatsby:

As you would know if you read my blog, I love to read old classics. Also, I got The Great Gatsby last Christmas and thought it was best to read it before this Christmas as I asked for even more books. This book was nothing like I thought it was going to be like. For example I thought the book was going to be narrated by Gatsby himself however it wasn't and you don't even meet Gatsby until a couple of chapters in. It's actually narrated by a man called Nick Carraway. This person is the next door neighbour to Gatsby and gets invited to one of his parties. However, Gatsby doesn't really show his face at the party and Nick wants to thank him for inviting him.  So spends the entire party trying to find him and learns a bit about him from the other guests. Also, I thought the book was just going to be about a load of social events. It's actually a really short book however it's full of different events. The ending was nothing like I expected but I won't tell you anything about the end so I don't ruin it.

Francis Scott Fitzgerald is an american writer and was born on 24th September 1896. He was married to Zelda Fitzgerald and had one child called Frances Scott Fitzgerald.  He died December 21st 1940 at the age of 44.

I really enjoyed this book and would recommend it to anyone who like the roaring twenties. However it is quite short book so don't take it on holiday with you. But it's still a brilliant book.

That's the end of this post and if you have any books you want me to read or any posts you want me to do then please put them in the comments and I'll get round to them as soon as I can.

Hans Christian Andersen's Fairy Tales: The Swineherd book review:

This was one of the shorter stories in this book however it didn't deduct from the actual story itself. As I told you in my last post there are quite a lot of stories in this book and I have actually counted them so you know ho long you are going to be hearing about different old classics. There are in total (including the previous post) 32 stories in this book. Also, at the end of all the book review I will do an extra post about this book which includes an overall book review on how I thought all the stories were and all the pictures inside this book. All the pictures in this book are what looks like to be actual paintings that have been printed into the book on different paper. So if you don't like old classics then sorry but I love them. And as I always say after theses sorts of thing: now back to the books.
This story was about a Prince who lives in a kingdom that's quite small however is large enough to marry upon it. But the Prince doesn't want to marry anyone in his kingdom he wants to marry the Emperor's daughter. To win the heart of the Emperor's daughter he sends her gifts. However she finds fault in all of them and disagrees with the Prince. In a last attempt to marry the Emperor's daughter the Prince applies for a job at the Emperor's castle to see why the Emperor's daughter won't marry him. The Emperor gives the Prince the job of the swineherd and that's all I'm going to tell you.
It was really good and fun to read however I would have liked it even more if Hans Christian Andersen had given the Prince, Emperor and Emperor's daughter names. Apart from this it was a great story with a meaning behind it. I really can't wait to finish this book and tell you about all the different stories. This story in particular reminded me of the stories you got told as a kid so you would learn not to lie or steal and stuff like that. Each story has it's own meaning for example the Wild Swans story shows that family is important. Also, this one shows that you should accept the gifts you are given and not turn your backs on them.
Again, as I said in my newer post there are images at the start of each story that I'll put up:

Now for everyone's favourite part of the post author facts. As I told you at the start of the post there will 33 posts about this book so there won't be many author facts so sorry is my posts are a bit shorter then usual. Hans Christian Andersen wrote many famous stories that are really famous still. Like the Little Sea Maid, the Ugly Duckling, the Snow Queen, Thumbelina and the Princess and the Pea. Some of his stories have been changed and turned into Disney films. For example The Little Mermaid and Frozen.

Thanks for reading and if you have any books you want me to read and write a book review on then leave them in the comments. I'll see you next time I post.

Hans Christian Andersen's Fairy Tales: The Wild Swans book review:

If you class yourself as a book lover then you should definitely know who Hans Christian Andersen is. As you all know if you read my blog I have a bunch of shops around town that I go to for books and I saw this one. I knew that most of Hans Christian Andersen's stories ending unhappily and I don't usually like those sorts of stories however I thought I had to read these classics. In this book there are many different stories inside so you'll be hearing about this book for quite a while. The first story in this book is called The Wild Swans. It's about a princess called Eliza who has eleven brothers, a father and a typical evil stepmother. This evil stepmother tells stories about the King stories about his sons so he then wants nothing to do with them. Then the evil stepmother makes the brothers run away and every day the brothers turn into swans and at night back to humans. Before this happened the evil stepmother sends the princess away to live with some peasants until she's 18. When she turns 18 her father sends for her. The evil stepmother sees the princess to get her dressed and washed ready to meet the King however when she sees how beautiful the princess has grown she tries to make her ugly. That's all I'm going to tell you about the story. Considering how much detail is in the story there aren't many pages which shows how much of a good writer Hans Christian Andersen is.
I really enjoyed this book and  I loved the ending and as you also know if you read my blog I used to do a part about the author which I'm going to bring back in this post. Also, sorry I haven't posted in awhile.
As I said in one one of my newer posts there are little pictures at the start of each story which I will put into my past post so here you are:

Hans Christian Andersen was born at April 2nd 1805 in Odense, Denmark and was the son of Hans Andersen and Anne Marie Andersdatter. He was an only child and he was influenced by the Grimm Brothers and William Shakespeare. He died February 17th 1856 in Paris France.

Thanks for reading and I'll see you next time I post. If you have books you want me write a review about put them in the comments and I'll get to them as soon as I can.
